Rehearsed readings of The Forge plays for 2018 will take place in Smock Alley Theatre - Monday December 17th @ 8pm.
The Forge -
Glass Mask Theatre's The Forge is a three-month playwriting mentorship scheme that aims to provide expert and practical support to playwrights currently crafting a full length play for the stage. We are looking for playwrights of all ages, demographics and experience levels.
The Forge will be run by acclaimed Irish playwright and Glass Mask associate Jimmy Murphy.
It will consist of 5 workshops over two months with Jimmy and a group of Glass Mask Theatre Actors, culminating in a rehearsed reading in Smock Alley Boy's School, December 2018.
We want to work with playwrights who have a passion for the stage and an ambition to create a play that speaks to the times we live in. We would love to work with writers with an original vision and voice. Writers who will be bold enough to present stories that resonate with us, the audience, in the most immediate sense.
Who should apply? -
- Writers must have at least a first draft of their play to work on.
-The Forge is open to writers of all disciplines, ages and backgrounds.
-Plays must be full length ( At least two acts ) in ambition and have a cast of at least 4 or more.
-Glass Mask will provide Actors and Directors for the finished script readings in December along with development readings.

Saturday October 6th - Session two 'Dialogue and character development' @ Smock Alley Theatre
Saturday October 13th - Session three ' Beginning and Ending ' @ Smock Alley Theatre
Saturday October 27th - Session four ' One on One Sessions ' @Smock Alley Theatre
Saturday November 10th - ' Actor readings / Development ' Coupled with one on one sessions. @Smock Alley Theatre.
